Well folks, we are now at 14 weeks and are officially into the 2nd trimester! (We even got to hear the heartbeat and some swishy “movement” noises from our little champ the other day. We loved it!) So far the biggest difference for me between the 1st trimester and the 2nd is…the belly. I’m still super hungry and occasionally nauseous, so that hasn’t changed TOO much. I suppose I have a bit more energy, but not nearly as much as everyone promised (good thing I don’t hold grudges against otherwise informative websites). But my belly, although relatively rather small, is starting to push it’s way into my everyday. For example, I realized last night as I was trying to stretch after our walk that stretching my glutes the way I normally do (sitting down, one leg out, the other crossed over and knee against your chest) is becoming progressively less effective because I can’t squeeze that knee as close to my chest as I used to. Tying my shoes while sitting on the floor, although still very possible, just plain feels weird. I’ve graduated to all maternity pants because it feels yucky to wear too-tight pants all day. But the worst of it? The worst is that I’m a hardcore stomach sleeper. And – you guessed it – everything was going just swimmingly until 2 nights ago when I started to notice that my little baby bump causes the rest of me to feel rather uncomfortable as I smash it between me and the mattress every night.
But I suppose all of that is to be expected. None of it is bad, either, just different than before. An adventure, really. Truthfully, its pretty nice to be “showing”. And speaking of showing, here’s a little footage for the masses (it would’ve just been a picture but I don’t have my camera with me at the moment):
http://www.vimeo.com/6387728just one more thing: why is it always so awkward to see yourself on film?
i’m a stomach sleeper too…….. and thats when 10,000 pillows come in handy.. you’ll have a system by week 24 where you’ll know where each pillow needs to be to get the best sleep.. and you get to the point of comfort..
then you have to get up to go pee!!

you are smokin’ hot!
Congratulations by the way! Making it to the 2nd trimester is so exciting! It’s like getting over a hump…try a wedge pillow… http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2266213 …it worked wonders for me to get comfortable on my side, as I’d rather sleep on my tummy anyday! And after the baby’s born, it’s a great way to prop his/her mattress just slightly to help their breathing. Enjoy being preggo!
I love that maternity pants madea post! Well, baby p is the main subject ofcourse
Every time I think of your belly I smile with joy for you sweet friend.
Fantastic! That baby is growing and in no time at all you will be holding your precious bundle in your arms. Glad about the updates… makes me feel like I don’t live 1 1/2 hours south of you. Keep them coming!
